ABOUT DERIC
The chemistry of vision
My laboratory research of ~35 years contributed to
our understanding of how vision works. The PROFESSIONAL
HISTORY link briefly descibes this work and contains
links to my publications and to the current laboratories
of some of my former graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.
This work was gradually phased out in the 1990's as I devoted
increasing time to studying the evolution, development, and
function of humans brains.

a brief autobiographical account, and the second is mainly
pictures of recent family history, focusing on my kids,
parents (now deceased), partner, and home. The ancestors
and family history link takes you to an illustrated narrative
presentation of the genealogical and family history files
left by my parents, Marlin and Helen Bownds.
